SMART BATTERY COUPLER RELAY RCB+
The RCB-ADJ-120A is a smart battery coupler relay ensuring compatibility between lead-acid batteries (flooded, AGM, GEL) and lithium batteries (LiFePo4) in 12/24 VDC systems. It regulates alternator current via an adjustable wheel (30–120 A), prioritizes starter battery charging, and protects the alternator from overload. Compact, lightweight, and robust, it features low-frequency switching technology, stabilized current output, and reverse polarity protection. In certain specific configurations, it can even replace a DC-DC charger.
With the growing use of LiFePO4 lithium batteries in onboard electrical systems, compatibility with traditional lead-acid batteries has become a key challenge, particularly during alternator operation. The RCB-ADJ-120A from Cristec addresses this by intelligently managing energy flows, ensuring a safe and balanced connection between both battery types in 12/24 VDC systems. The device manages alternator current —up to 200 A— by limiting it to the service battery while ensuring starter battery priority. With its adjustable selector wheel, the current limit can be set between 30 and 120 A, adapting to alternator capacity and onboard needs. As a guideline, about 30% of the alternator’s capacity should be reserved for the starter battery, for a 110 Ah alternator, the service bank limit could be set at 70 A. Its low-frequency switching technology delivers a stabilized charging current, preventing voltage drops, while reverse polarity protection safeguards both the device and the system. Compact, lightweight, and durable, it is well-suited for demanding marine environments. In addition, the selector wheel can be removed for safety or maintenance, and the On/Off input allows remote control of lithium battery charging. In specific configurations, the RCB-ADJ-120A can even replace a DC-DC charger, providing a simplified and cost-effective solution.
